Avatar 2000 and / or Parts for Sale
What’s still available as of February 2025:
- Phil Wood spoke machine – Rare and valuable; it’s the one shown on this site, which includes an optional, customized aluminum bracket shelf and spoke storage, and is designed to mount to a wall (as shown). Please email me ASAP if interested.
- One partial Avatar (aka “the orphan” — no serial number) available for a very reasonable price. Please email me asap if interested.
This bike is in need of a skilled welder who can create a seat frame from genuine aluminum Avatar side rails and crossbars (which I have, and will be provided free). Also needed: 2 custom-fabricated top caps for the side rails, 2 crosspiece brackets and 2 struts, which attach the seat at the wheel hubs.
An original, worn but serviceable leather-and-mesh seat comes with the bike, but of course can’t be mounted until a frame is made for it. If a new mesh seat is desired, a roll of brand-new black mesh will be provided at no charge. For help with obtaining a custom leather and mesh seat, see Ray’s suggestion on where and how to have one made in Pennsylvania.
Other than the seat frame, this bike is quite rideable without much additional effort. Steering, brakes, wheels and all other components are intact as far as I can tell.
If interested in rebuilding or to use it strictly for parts, please contact me ASAP at the ratavabike2 gmail address and I will send lots of pictures. Price negotiable.
- FREE! Three original welded frames — no wheels, no seats, just the basic frames. One is painted black and was once a bike; the others are bare brazed metal. These frames are free; you pay shipping cost only, or else you may pick up.
Miscellaneous parts and tools —
- Phil Wood disc brake — Phil Wood hubs– front and rear tire rims — tires and tubes — truing stand — cyclist’s tools and miscellaneous. These will be liquidated in the most expedient manner. Please email me if interested, I will send photos and a list.
Note, there are no spare seats or luggage racks.
