The original seats were made with leather +/- 1/16″ (.062″) thick. (At least the ones I have seen) The four new seats I have had made use leather that is close to 3/32″ (.093″) thick which, hopefully, will last longer. I have been using Lexol on the new seats and I think application every couple months is a good idea. Unlike neatsfoot oil, it does not leave any stain on clothing and the next day there is no oily feel.
