Fleetwood, PA to Deer Isle, ME – 2000

It had been two years since my long ride from California to Nebraska and this trip was born out of a feeling to try and stay in shape for being able to do these type trips. I’m not enthused about long bike trips in the East, but going out West was not an option that year. My wife and I really enjoy the coast of Maine, so we agreed to meet a day or two short of Deer Isle then leap frog to our destination – Goose Cove. This is a beautiful and isolated facility which at the time, had a great restaurant and individual rustic cabins. (It has since changed hands and is no longer the same place.)

Another trip with few pictures.   I left home about a week ahead of my wife, meeting up at Freeport, ME, spending the night there and the next night in Camden. The final day found us at Goose Cove.

The weather was good and nothing exciting happened during the bike trip, perhaps a good thing. I no longer remember the exact route other than to say that it ran through Port Jervis, PA, Salisbury, CT, Northampton, MA, Manchester, NH, and Freeport, ME.
